NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ETHNOLOGY, OSAKA JAPAN

This museum consists of regional and cultural exhibits.
In the regional exhibit area, the world is divided into Oceania, The Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia, which includes Japan. It is set up so that visitors start with Oceania and go eastward around the world until reaching Japan. This configuration makes it possible to understand Japanese culture in the context of other cultures from around the globe. Exhibits also center of daily items such as food, clothing and dwellings to show how people around the world live.
The cultural exhibit, on the other hand, is a repertoire of a broad swath of the worldfs ethnic cultures looked at from specific genre rather than geographical area. Current permanent exhibits deal with musical instruments and language.

How to get there: Get off the Osaka Monorail at Koen Higashiguchi. About 15 minutes on foot from there.
Closed: Wednesday, standard new years holidays
